Maui Photography Tours by Randy Hufford Art
Randy Hufford is no newcomer to Maui. He first stepped off Aloha Airlines in 1976, when there was a simple stairway from the plane to the tarmac. From that first blast of humid and plumeria perfumed tropical air, he knew that he had arrived. Randy instantly fell in love with Maui and desperately wanted to share that passion with others.
Randy’s love of God’s beauty simply overwhelmed him. From that moment on, he knew his destiny was to share that passion with the rest of the world.
From the get go, his camera was constantly connected to his eye so that he could capture the amazing landscape in front of him. Not a moment went by that he did not yearn to share the love for the island of Maui that was so engraved in his heart.
After one year of living on Maui, he returned to his hometown of Dana Point, California where he met the love of his life. Together, they decided to make a go of it on Maui. Packing up all they had (which wasn’t much) and shipping a camper to Maui, Randy and his new wife, Rebecca, took the plunge and made Maui their home. In those days, we referred to this bohemian lifestyle as “hippies”. Unfortunately, the term has now degraded to “homeless”.
This “bohemian” lifestyle allowed Randy to visit some of the most unique areas of Maui. His whole purpose is to respect the Aina (the natural land) and the people. We will never take you on a tour that would step on anyone’s toes.
The next issue is what are you hoping to accomplish on your photo tour. Here are some things that you might consider:
Our goal on these tours is that you can get the best instruction possible from the most experienced personnel. We want this to be your tour, catered to your needs, wants and desires. We will conform your tour to meet your goals to the best of our ability.
"Speak Life" Orginaly shot as a portrait-rama of a good friend of mine Judy Host. Sunrise . We got up at 3am and created Art that tells a story. This is a short hike to one of my favorite vantage points to see inside sunrise. This is a 11 stiched panorama image with 9 exposure HDR to capture the entire range of this scene. 99 images total. After doing this image we had such raved reviews for the shot that we cropped out Judy and produced a Fine Art image that is one of my most sought after creations.
"Speak Life"
When this image was originally created, it was a portrarama. A Portrarama is a fancy word for a panorama shot in conjunction with a portrait. It is in dedication for a friend of ours that always has a good attitude and her gift is to speak life into people wherever she is. No matter what the problem or circumstance she always finds God’s perspective and speaks out the blessing and hope in every situation. We all need to surround ourselves with people that are positive and can speak life into us. We also need to be sure that we are that person for someone else. This image is celebrating the people that are always speaking life into us.
This is a sunrise on Maui.
“Branching Out”
My inspiration of this image is that this tree represents families and friends that are close. As we make our priorities in life to be close with family and friends it bounds us together as demonstrated by the golden light going down the center of the tree.
This art work also represents the personal growth of a person. When we are a young child our immediate family helps us grow strong and stable. Like the trunk of the Banyon tree. As we go through our childhood and early adulthood we branch out as our family grows and we gain friends along the way.
This is a magical Banyon tree image. It was shot on location on Maui, Hawaii. It is about a 45 minute uphill hike. But it is downhill coming back. This would be in the Hana tour.
Healing Balm
This art was originally created for a good friend of mine to celebrate a healing in his body. Every day for 3 months he walked barefoot and swam at this beautiful beach on Maui called Kamaole 3 Beach Park. Have you ever noticed that you sleep better on a beach vacation after walking in the sand or being in the ocean? God restored His health. He celebrated by commissioning me to create this piece of art to remember his healing. The miracle of the story is that one day, when he returned home from the beach his expensive gold ring had fallen off his finger. The next day his son went to the beach with him and as his son was swimming he found the ring. God answers prayers!
This is the south side of Maui. Kihei or Gold Coast. This would be a tour of beaches and sunsets on south side includes Makena. Again this is a stitched panorama HDR, 99 images. I am using a panorama tripod with a nodal Ninja panorama head.
Waters Of Refeshment
This is a stitched panorama. I am using a Nodal Ninja Panorama head on a Gitzo Panorama tripod. This has two advanced techniques to get this look. First technique is shooting on a tripod with a panorama head. It holds the camera vertical and has indents that allow you to turn head in predetermined amounts which allow a easy way to shoot overlapping images for a panorama.
